The
jewell of the Levant as it was once known it now boasts
old colonical buildings by the quayside, a huge cylindrical
castle a harbour used for pleasure boats and yachts
an array of restaurants and coffee shops around its
crescent shape. Ample time will be given for lunch
and souvenir hunting
A
brief visit to the Kyrenia castle will take you over
a dry moat right into to the main guard passing by
the byzantine chapel of St. George. From the towers
the veiw of the harbour is at your feet and St. Hillarion
castle can be detected in the vicinty. The castle
is now used as a museum and houses a 2300 years old
single sail shipwreck considered to be the oldest
ever found.
